Sciatic Pain Can Be Fixed

(A Non-Surgical Approach)
Treatment plans may include Chiropractic Spinal Adjustments or Spinal Decompression Therapy.
Chiropractic Spinal Adjustments - This form of therapy helps release restricted movement of the spine and restore misaligned vertebrae to their proper position in the spinal column. Adjustments should not be painful. Spinal manipulation is proven to be safe and effective.
Spinal Decompression Therapy - Patients lie on the decompression table with comfortable pads either behind their neck or around their waist and chest, depending on their treatment. The computerized process involves a series of gentle stretches that separate the vertebrae causing a negative pressure in the disc. Because of that negative pressure, disc material that has protruded or herniated can be pulled back within the normal confines of the disc, and permit healing to occur. Although these changes are almost imperceptible after each treatment, over time, the results are truly remarkable. In addition, the gentle pumping action utilized by the decompression table helps nutrient-rich fluids flow to the inside of the disc. This allows for additional healing to occur in the areas of disc degeneration.
Determining the Proper Treatment Plan For You
First we need to determine the cause of the pain you are experiencing. To do this, Dr. Bassett will need to talk with you about your symptoms, do some tests (no they won't hurt...) and take x-rays if you need them.
Once he has had a chance to look at everything, he will discuss a treatment plan with you.
What Causes Sciatic Pain?
Sciatica is actually a sign that you have an underlying problem putting pressure on a nerve in your lower back. The most common cause of this nerve compression is a bulging or herniated lumbar disc. Piriformis syndrome is another common cause of sciatica. The piriformis is a muscle that lies directly over the sciatic nerve. If this muscle becomes tight or if you have a spasm in this muscle, it puts pressure directly on the sciatic nerve. Occasionally, sciatic pain in men is caused by sitting on a wallet.
